HCL Group Has Joined Hands with the UNLEASH Initiative for Global Development

HCL and UNLEASH, a global innovation program for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), recently launched a collaboration through cutting-edge technologies to help protect the aquatic ecosystem. These remedies are designed to deal with issues connected to terrestrial ecosystems, from the "Source" (mountains and glaciers) to the "Sink" (oceans and seas).

UNLEASH - The Global Innovation Lab has collaborated with the HCL Group to create a year of youth-led, collective action. The participants were able to explore synergies regarding the SDGs and propose solutions regarding two causes in particular, SDG 14 (Life below Water) and SDG 15 (Life on Land). The youth receive hands-on assistance and guidance from industry professionals throughout the process to guarantee that the ideas are applicable to the situation and realizable in practice.

One of the initiatives under this collaboration is UNLEASH Hack, the first-ever event held at the Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence (SNIoE) that HCL co-hosted. These are regional innovation sprints for youth to solve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By focusing on problem framing, ideation, and prototyping for two days, the UNLEASH Hack equips participants with the knowledge and abilities to create innovative ideas and solutions that can create long-term impact.

UNLEASH has fully established a community of changemakers who are addressing challenges related to nature and carefully exploring SDG 14 and SDG 15 to help create sustainable development in India and the world.

Commenting on the partnership, Ms. Roshni Nadar Malhotra, CEO of HCL, and Chairperson of HCL Technologies, said, "HCL's collaboration with UNLEASH in bringing innovation to the SDGs, and specifically to the preservation of nature and ocean conservation, is an essential step in our overall sustainability efforts." Ms. Nadar is also the Trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation and the Founder of The Habitats Trust.

Another notable initiative of the Shiv Nadar Foundation is VidyaGyan, an Indian leadership academy that identifies and nurtures gifted students. VidyaGyan helps transform students through high-quality education to build them into future leaders. The alumni at VidyaGyan also participated in the Innovation Lab, which focuses on "thinking global, eating local, and feeling universal" through its sustainable projects.
